In modern times, with the development of stainless steel, the corrosion resistance of steel has improved dramatically. However, corrosion in extreme conditions such as cryogenic, high temperatures, abrasion and seawater environments still causes economical loss and environmental damage and has become a major cause of safety issues. Since it is almost impossible to replace and repair corrosion parts in such a harsh environment, the need for structural materials with strong corrosion resistance is increasing day by day. Our group is exploring ways to improve the anti-corrosion properties of structural materials without losing mechanical properties via alloy composition control or surface treatment.
